Bachelorette Party: What does it really cost?

Bachelorette Party: What does it really cost?

Our “What does it really cost” series sheds light on how much different women across the country spend on the big life events: having a baby, taking a sabbatical year, moving, getting a master’s degree, buying a house, etc.  This week’s feature is highlighting one woman’s cost of attending a bachelorette party in Disneyland.

Location: Bay Area California

Age: 37

What were your total bachelorette party costs?

In all, I spent about $3,000. The Bride wanted to go to Disneyland for a weekend. This included hotel stays, flights, restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner, park tickets, and the favors. In the evening, we went to clubs/lounges. She was also very particular about coordinated outfits with shirts and tutus. I paid for the reservations, deposits, VIP areas, limo and anything that was meant to be split across attendees with the idea of being paid back. 2 ladies canceled last minute, which meant that I was left with the bill for anything that could not be redistributed (clothing, club admission). That in addition to my own costs added up to $3,000.

Final Costs:  About $3,000.

Was this more or less than you were expecting?

Way more! I feel that I could have spent that amount on a much more extravagant day and evening locally, or at the very least half of that for the same caliber of venue locally.

Were there other options that you considered? What are the pros and cons of this compared to other options?

The bride was very, VERY particular on her asks, such as location. In the age of cash app and Venmo, I would have everything paid for up front by attendees to not pay so much out-of-pocket.

What do you wish you would have known?

While it is an honor and a blessing to be a maid of honor, the price tag is even bigger. This was just one event, I still contributed to bridal shower and had my cost of dress, hair, makeup, shoes, and the actual wedding gift. My cousin getting married cost us $5,000 total.

In conclusion, this woman’s total bachelorette party costs were about $3,000.

We hope this gives you insights into how someone else navigated the costs of attending a bachelorette party. Do these costs surprise you?
