wonderful job of breaking down complex financial concepts

Erin Gums, MBA, Brand Manager at EA

“Can't recommend the 10-week money boot camp enough! Eryn does a wonderful job of breaking down complex financial concepts, making them easy to understand and fun to learn. With the knowledge I've gained, I found savings in my budget and put more money towards my retirement-- more than covering the cost of the course!”

“I’ve always been good at saving, but before taking Eryn’s course, I never knew what to do with my money. As a first-generation immigrant, I couldn’t rely on my parents to guide me through 401k accounts, saving for a house, etc. Eryn’s course has helped me feel more in control of my money and more secure about my retirement plan. I would highly recommend this course to all women, especially women who are early in their careers and need help coming up with a plan."

Increased My 401K Contribution

PhD Grad in biotech

"I increased my 401k contribution (of course!) I also switched from a traditional to a Roth. In the past I didn't know the difference but assumed a Roth was a fancy type of 401k for people who made way more money than me. Turns out, it's probably a better choice for my future financial needs now that I actually understand what it is!"

“I’m feeling really good about my financial plan (created during your class of course)! I created a budget and I’m sticking to it which is really satisfying, with automatic transfers to an emergency savings account, maxing out my 401K and most importantly - HAVE A PLAN FOR MY CREDIT CARD DEBT :)”

What Makes This Class Different

Investing just 3-4% more of a typical post-MBA salary (~$6K / year) in an IRA or 401K over the next 30 years could translate to $566.8K more in retirement. The most common action taken during class is increasing your retirement savings. While 3-4% adds up over time, most individuals will barely notice the difference in their paycheck today. This level of change alone recoups the class fee many times over.

This class is NOT for:

  • Anyone not planning to live in the US for at least 2-3 years
  • People uncomfortable using Excel to do basic calculations
  • Entrepreneurs and others without a 401K or other retirement account through work

"I found this course to be incredibly empowering! I started the course with little knowledge about personal finance and have come away with very practical skills on how to manage my money and plan for the future. The course material was relevant with just the right amount of breadth, depth, and detail to make actionable and informed decisions on topics like budgeting and planning for retirement. I also thought the weekly sessions over zoom fostered an incredibly supportive community of thoughtful women each sharing how they have navigated critical life decisions such as home-ownership, starting a family, or starting a new job. Eryn was also very accessible over email and provided in-depth and personalized answers to my questions. I'm very glad that I took this course and will be putting her lessons to good use for years to come!”

Frequently asked questions

What do most women in class achieve? What's the return on my time?

100% of women who complete all 10-weeks take SOME action through class. While what you will achieve will vary based on your personal experience, most women trim mindless spending, increase their 401K savings, transfer cash from their bank accounts to an investing account so it can start growing, and make a plan to pay off debt (student loan, credit card or mortgage) faster. Even a small change in behavior (saving 4% more of a typical post-MBA salary), can lead to large savings later in life. For example, investing ~$6K / year more in an IRA or 401K over the next 30 years could translate to $566.8K more in retirement. When you compare that to $600 --> the course fee, class more than pays for itself.

What's the time commitment?

Class is 1-hour every week with about 1-3 hours / homework each week (some weeks have minimal homework and others have more). All the classes are recorded and most participants miss 1-2 classes and catch up via the recording.

What's included?

In addition to 10-weeks of live classes, worksheets and Excel templates, the course also includes review of four homework assignments including your monthly spending, your current net worth and your investment baseline. I also include a 30-minute one-on-one to answer all your questions individually.

Which cohort should you sign up for? Can you take the Tuesday class if you're not an MBA?

The content in the two cohorts is 95% the same. The main difference is the types of questions that others will ask. The MBA students tend to have a stronger understanding of concepts like compound interest and what's a stock and a bond. They also tend to have higher incomes.

How much does class cost and can I get a discount?

Class costs $600 or $60 / week (less than two spin classes). If you sign up with a friend, you can use the code BETTERTOGETHER and each of you will receive $50 off the total course cost.
